Shimmer Sonia

As requested here is Sonia by Shimmer polish over Misa Frozen in Time. The dusty purple base pulls out the lavenders and blues in the glitter making this polish seem very different from the overriding pink seen in the bottle. The mix of glitters are quite delicate and are ideal for Easter! I like it. Shimmer Polish can be purchased from here.

Dior Tutu with China Glaze Scattered & Tattered

Tutu from the Cherie Bow collection is my first Dior polish, it's a creamy pale pink that builds to a perfect opaque finish after 3 coats. I'm not a pink person but I'm loving this a lot.

Before I removed the mani I decided to layer a coat of China Glaze Scattered and Tattered and matify the whole lot to see what it would look like. I picked up this chunky glitter when I was in HK but have been trying to decide how to use it. Yay or nay?

Shimmer Polish - Taylor, Eva and Brooklyn

Hi I have some more gorgeous Shimmer polishes for you ladies today.

Taylor is one of my favs as it's a jelly glitter. The grape coloured tinted base is sheer enough that when several layers are applied the glitter looks suspended, like in a jelly but also builds up enough so that you don't have a visible nail line. Pairing the grape base with a aqua glitter also makes this polish a bit more unusual. Here I have used 3 coats.

Eva is also a lovely jelly glitter. It has a raspberry base with fine raspberry and silver glitter. I looks so juicy. No VNL here either. Here I have used 3 coats.

Brooklyn is a predominantly blue glitter polish punctuated with larger gold hex pieces in a clear base. I love the gold pieces in this. For me it makes the polish is more wearable as it's not overpowered by one colour I'm sure Cindy must have some kind of mathematical formula when she mixes her polishes because the proportion of different glitters always seem just right. Here is 2 coats of Brooklyn over a teal base.
I not 100% sure what base I used here although I have a feeling it may be China Glaze Exotic Encounters.

I still have quite a number to swatch and being the rather slow swatcher I have become nowadays I want to know from you if there are any particular ones you want to see sooner rather than later. These are the ones still in my untried so let me know:

  • Tiffany
  • Fanny
  • Amy
  • Alessandra
  • Julia
  • Katherine
  • Jennifer
  • Erica
  • Sonia

Shimmer Polish can be purchased from here.

Zoya Neely + Konad m83

In Hong Kong I was super excited about being able to get my hands on Zoya polishes. I have no idea where in the UK I can get them off the shelf so when I saw them for real I really had to restrain myself from going nuts. Actually I was so overwhelmed I just didn't know what to buy and in the end I just picked a few from the Spring 2013 collection.

So Neely is the first Zoya to appear on my blog and it's a beaut. The formula was so so and to be honest I was expecting much more in this department. The first coat was really streaky and pooled at the edge of my nails. Luckily using a generous second coat sorted everything out. It's a very pale minty green very similar to Essie Mint Candy Apple but lighter and more pastel. I prefer this over Mint Candy Apple.

Stupid me forgot to photograph it before I stamped all over it. Here it is with an image from the Konad m83 plate (another first on my blog. Using an official Konad plate).
Two coats of Neely, Konad white stamping polish topped with a coat of Seche Vite.
Ah I'm so ready for spring with this mani. Bring it on!

Sally Hansen Gem Crush - Lady Luck

Sally Hansen Gem Crush - Lady Luck over SH Complete Salon Manicure - Plum Luck. A sparkly purple/magenta with a sprinkling of holographic glitter, this is my favourite polish from the Gem Crush collection which is available from selected Superdrug stores in the UK. You have to believe me when I say it's sparkly because it really is, despite what my pictures say. This is two coats over Plum Luck with a coat of SV to seal it all in. I love it.
Have you tried the Gem Crush polishes? Which is your favourite?
