My first foray into STAMPING courtesy of Born Pretty Store

Hey Everyone I'm back and I'm FREEEEEE!!!! Yay! I have no more revision, no more placements, and more exams (providing I don't have to re-sit) and no more Uni!!! It feels incredibly weird going from revising 12 hours a day to nothing. I'm not used to all this leisure time but I still don't feel like I can fully enjoy it until I get my results! lol

Anyway today I want to share with you a manicure I created using the Hello Kitty and Floral Stamping Nail Art Kit from Born Pretty store which they kindly sent to me for review. I'm sure most of you guys have heard of the Born Pretty Store and may have even made purchases from there yourself but in case you haven't a clue, they are an online store that sell a huge selection of nail art supplies. They have polishes, stamping plates, nail decorations, tools and so much more.

A couple of months ago I expressed an interest in trying my hand at stamping but had no idea where to start. Thankfully the Hello Kitty and Floral Stamping Nail Art Kit contains everything you need to get started: two plates, three polishes (white, black and red), a stamper and a scraper.

The main attraction of this kit is the Hello Kitty image on one of the plates so I just had to create a mani using it. Unfortunately the white polish I wanted to use leaked in transit so for this mani I have just used a gold foil polish by Barry M.

What do you think?
Do you think it was a little ambitious for my first stamping mani? It probably was because I made a lot of mistakes and had to start again so many times but that was because of me and not the tools. The scraper, stamper and plate were absolutely perfect, I was just either really slow or pressed too hard whilst scraping. And this was after I spent ages trying to figure out why my image wasn't transferring to the stamper and then realising I hadn't taken the protective plastic film off the plate! Yes I can hear you laughing but it wasn't even noticeable I tell ya!

I have nothing to compare this kit to but my first impressions of it are very good. Everything in the kit works and contains everything you need if you're a beginner like me. The two plates that come with the kits are a little sharp around the edges but apart from that they're great and most importantly of all work. There are lots of pretty floral designs which I will use for a full mani soon but I have tested to see if they transfer fully and they do. The plastic scraper and stamper unsurprisingly are compatible with acetone so can be wiped clean without them melting LOL. You know what I mean.
My BF thinks this looks a bit Laura Ashley!

If you like the look of this kit you can get it for $8.77 and that includes free shipping. You can also get a further 5% off if you use the following discount code:

  1. Is stamping easy to do? I was tempted to buy one and didn't!

And I'm also very very jealous you have no more exams, I have two 3 hour ones in two weeks and I'm dreading it, so congrats on finishing ;-) x

    1. I think stamping gets easier with practice! My first few attempts were a complete shambles but with a little bit of patience I got there in the end but I'm by no means a pro and still have a lot to learn!

Good luck with your exams! x

    1. I've read foil/metallic polishes work very well for stamping so would recommened giving them a try if you don't want o be restricted by those in the kit.

  9. I just got Gold foil and Silver foil from my sister-in-law. She's currently studying in Ireland and my mother-in-law brought it back to the US after visiting her. I can't wait to stamp with them.
