Shimmer Polish - Jenny and Mary

Hello lovelies I have a couple of Shimmer Polish swatches for you today. Sorry it's taken me so long to write a post but it's absolutely freezing here at the moment and my hands really suffer in the cold weather.

First up is Jenny a predominantly silver and blue glitter with a splash of purple but like all Shimmer polishes this it's more complex than that. You can see from the pictures there is also hints of red and gold. Here I used two coats over Barry M Indigo which I think is a perfect match and brings out all the colours in the mix.

Mary is a lovely glitter with a raspberry tinted base. The main body is made up of densely packed  fine silver/holo, red and black glitter. There is some large black hex pieces that add an accent. I've layered 2 coats over OPI Congeniality is my middle name.
Lovely aren't they? If you want to get you hands on these or any of the other polishes Cindy has to offer check out her etsy store.

Nails Inc Bling It On Leather & Skulls - Leather Effect Polish

Oh my goodness I've totally fallen in love with the Nails Inc Leather Effect nail polish and hopefully you guys can see why! When I showed my friend a picture she said it looked a bit kinky! That's not the first thing that came to my mind (and not why it appealed to me) but I guess my mind doesn't work like hers (hahaha!) However, there is something very subversive about the look and it does appeal to my inner rock chick!

The texture is created with very fine sand mixed in with a black base; think of the texture that is created by a hungry glitter when the top coat has sunk in and you get an idea of how this polish works.  The effect does resemble leather but if it were a little less shiny it would be even more convincing. It dries really fast and 2 coats which is recommended is just perfect.

In the UK I have only seen sets with the polish, skull embellishments,  glue and orange stick, however, in the US I think you get studs too. This little set will set you back £19 but you can shop around for an even lower price. A bit pricey but worth every penny!

Black polish in itself is a bit of a statement but adding that texture and bling well...

My First Saran Wrap (cling film) mani

A saran wrap mani (aka cling film in the UK) has been on my to do list for a while now. I'm not sure of the origins but the simple use of cling film to dab one colour over another creates a very eye catching marble effect.

Featuring: China Glaze - Pink Plumeria a eye searing pink-coral jelly-esque neon with very subtle gold shimmer. It's quite sheer, even after 3 coats my nail line is still visible. OPI - Alpine Snow

Have you guys tried this? What do you guys think of my choice of colours? I'm not entirely convinced.

Thank you for reading and commenting xx

Audrey Pinstripe Floral - DRK-A plate

** Hello 2013 **
Who's been nursing a hangover today? Not me!! I got in quite late from work last night and after downing a bottle of Buck's Fizz I fell asleep around 11pm and completely missed the clock striking midnight, oops. I really do know how to party, don't I!

Continuing on the theme of 'elegant' manis today I want to show you a little number I whipped up this afternoon using the amazing DRK plate sent to me by the lovely Barb. If you read my blog you know she's my nail sister from Brazil who just surprises me all the time with nail mail (did I show you the nail polish she sent me recently?). When I got this I couldn't believe it, she's just too kind.

I'm not hugely familiar with this brand; all I know is that they are Brazilian and available from Ninja polish. The images are HUGE! Seriously my piddly nails really don't do the images justice whatsoever.
Base: China Glaze - For Audrey Stamping Polish - Konad - White
What do you guys think? I love this and think this mani will make an appearance on my nails quite a lot this year!
