A word of warning

I had heard stories of Royal Mail clamping down on nail polishes being sent internationally but had not been a victim of their searches until today!

I got a snotty letter and the original envelope with all the content missing (including a lipgloss!!! yes because that's going to bring down a plane). What I don't understand is why they couldn't return the nail polishes. They let us send to UK addresses so what difference would it make? My theory is that they keep it all and sell it on.

Luckily this was a test package and I didn't send any polishes that were HTF!

Sorry it didn't get to you Barb :(!

Have any of you ladies been a victim?

  4. I got this same letter about 2 months ago.....they returned the packages minus the polish....there was a Birthday card which had been ripped open...as if polish was in there...my bet was to see if there was cash....they returned the Sweets and the ripped open card, but not the MAC lipstick...so i guess some postal worker is now walking around with Mac Lippy.....oh and a new stash of free polish.

I think those of us effected should get together and send off complaints about them not returning all the contents.

  6. Man! This really stinks. There ought to be some workaround for these not-really-dangerous hazardous items. =(

  7. "because that's going to bring down a plane" ohhh yeeeeeah, I always feel like such a terrorist when I go on holiday with 15 lacquers in my baggage. u_U

While this situation sure sucks, I think Royal Mail is still TIMES better than Russian Post which casually loses every second incoming parcel (or steal, not that I have checked...)

  8. I guess we have to start paying couriers rather than using standard mail. Fed Ex will ship. Of course you'd have to REALLY want your polish but, there you go. It's an option.

  9. I can't believe they kept the contents! What are they going to do with it? Let the workers keep what they find? Ridiculous. Will have to see what other posting companies there are.

  10. Yep I've been a victim too, I didn't even get the envelope returned! What get's me is that it was sent to southern Ireland, I can post nail polish to Northern Ireland but not Southern Ireland - frigging joke, all the mail prob goes on the same plane anyway! Andy they should return the polish to you rather than destroy it, it's not their property! Arghhhhh....... I really detest Royal Mail sometimes!

  11. I sent a package from NZ to London area and it arrived in 3 (three!!!) days!!! Amazing!!! Then, my girl sent me a package from London to NZ and that was almost a month ago. Still no word. I know it was polish (Mother's Day giftie) - how cruel of them to keep it. Everyone is on a budget. The polish cost heaps (especially if you hardly have any income) and then the postage. Just plain mean.

  12. I've sent 3 parcels to the US in the last 2 months without issue. I think it just depends on which post sorting office it goes through as some have x-ray facilities and some don't.
