Color Club In True Fashion - Port-Folio

Color Club Port-Folio from the In True Fashion collection is an awesome duochrome that shifts from violet to green. At first I wasn't convinced I needed this in my collection as I have a number of purple-green duochromes, GOSH Purple Heart for example but the shimmer in the this polish sits in a jelly-esque grape purple base which sets it apart from PH. The formula was very typical of Color Club, it appears quite sheer on the first coat but opacity builds up in two coats.
Have you guys tried this? Do you love it as much as me?

Color Club Edie with Clouds BM312

Whoa two posts in one day what is happening?! Well you have the weather to thank as the wet and cold has kept me indoors. And what do you do on dreary days, paint nails! Anyway as you guys know I bought the new Bundle Monster plates recently and I have been playing with all week trying to improve my technique. Nothing is worse than painting your nails, waiting for them to dry, making a pathetic attempt at stamping and then having to take everything off to start again.

During my practicing I discovered I have the most annoying nails to stamp over. They're quite curved which makes getting right into the edges problematic. It may be because the stamper I have is too hard so I've ordered a softer one, but we'll see. Also I've realised I need to invest in some proper stamping polish. I know there are polishes you can stamp with (and I have used a generic foil for the following mani) but being a newbie I think I should cut myself some slack and get some Konad polish just to make it a bit easier ya know!

Using the clouds (they look like clouds to me) from BM312 I stamped over Color Club Edie.

What do you think? I really like it as it's quite subtle even though CC Edie is quite in your face. I used Barry M Gold foil because I know it works but I would have like to have stamped using a white polish.

So where can I get some Konad polishes cheaply? Also am I/can I take off the backing on the back of the plate?

Bye for now!

Haul!

Today the nail polish Gods must have been shining down on me for I found a set of Color Club polishes in TK Maxx! I've read they've been popping up in stores but never thought I'd find any since I hardly have time to go shopping and my local TK Maxx has quite a high turnover. So you can imagine my excitement at finding them but then to discover they were only £7.99 (This is cheap for the UK) just made me a little giddy! I don't even know where to get Color Club sets from in the UK (I know Sally's have the mini sets sometimes) so I'm wondering where on earth this stock came from! Anyway those in the UK get your butts down to your local TK Maxx asap, well as long as it's not my one. LOL

Oh I almost forgot... I got a set from the Back to Boho Collection! There are a gazillion swatches online for these but if anyone does want me to do swatches let me know!

Color Club With Abandon

Hey guys hope you're all having a good week so far. I've been a bit bad and have neglected my blog a little! It's not all my fault though. My friend wants to see 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' when it comes out this week but I don't want to see it until I've read the book so I've been trying to cram it in and those of you who have read it know it's not the easiest of reads. I'm only half way through which I think isn't to bad considering I have hardly any time to read and I started just over a week ago! Everyone I know who has read it says there's a real 'oh my God' bit in it which has led some to cry... DON'T tell me what it is OK?!!

So anyway in my previous post I showed you my skull mani for Halloween and I hope some of you have tried it. The polish I used as my base was Color Club's With Abandon which came out in 2009 as part of the Wild At Heart collection and I think the name is odd and I don't get it - may be there's a story behind the name or may be I'm just a bit stupid haha! either way there is no denying this is one gorgeous polish. With gold/brown flecks of shimmer in a black base it's ideal for when black on its own is too black. Do you get those days?

One last thing, with or without a top coat I find Color Club polishes do not wear that well. Whether I move a few books or just do a bit of typing I find the tips worn and chipped. Do you guys have that problem?

OK back to reading!

Recent NOTDs Pink Spice and Wild at Heart

The two nail polishes I'm wearing here need no introduction so I'm just going to show you the pictures!

Pink Spice by Accessorize - Gorgeous duochrome that required 3 coats. Gives a foil like finish.

Color Club's Wild at Heart a stunning purple polish with a subtle holo effect. Perfect application in 2 coats but for pros one coat may enough.

Color Club Fashion Addict

It was only after I had made an order from an eBay seller for some hard to find polish (in the UK) that I read about duds and people's disappointment with some of color club holos. I hoped that I would get a good bottle but inside I reluctantly resigned to the fact I was going to receive a dud. So when my package finally came from the states Fashion Addict looked flat and my heart sank. However the next day when the sunlight caught my nails I could see glimpses of a rainbow and the signs of a holo!! Could it be? To be honest I don't know if I have a good or a bad bottle but there is definitely something there. I've tried to capture it on camera for you guys to see...

I had to fiddle with the exposure factors because my compact gets confused when there are areas of light and dark.
This is my thumb and the colours are a little more saturated because the photo was deliberately underexposure!
Before a clean up!! artificial lighting

Is this a dud? Should there be more holo?

Below Deck and Mint Cream

China Glaze Below Deck with a coat of Color Club Femme Fatale on top.

Color Club Femme Fatale

Elf Mint Cream
Required 4 coats here to achieve complete opacity. Was incredibly streaky and a general pain in the butt to apply. If I didn't love the colour so much I would throw this in the trash.
