essence Nail Colour 3 - Midnight Date

Hi there!
Today I want to share with you Essence 'Midnight Date' from the Colour3 range. I received this from the lovely Mateja from  Rainbows and Blues.

So let's see...
This duo consists of a gorgeous Navy 'base' that shifts between purple and teal and a flakie 'top coat' that has the same colour shift.
This is the base alone. The quality is fantastic and easily a one coater but the picture shows two due to habit! It dries quickly and to a glossy finish.
As you can see I have failed miserably at capturing the multichrome-ness of this polish so you will have to believe me that it shifts to purple and teal!
These duo polishes allow you the choice of wearing the polishes alone or layered. Here I have layered the flakie over the navy base.
The navy base alone is lovely but with the flakie on top it just another dimension to the overall finish. One thing I would say is that after applying the flakie you'll need to add another topcoat if you want a glossy finish.
And here is a picture of the flakie alone (2 coats). In the picture this looks very sheer but in real life the nail line is not as visible.

Overall I love this duo, what I don't love is the packaging as it's a pain in the ass to store!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures xx

Ludurana Arco-Iris

Are you guys ready for another flakie? I know I'm a little late to the party with this but I couldn't afford or justify the cost of buying this on top of the postage I would have had to pay and... then Llarowe had that free shipping period at the end of last year and my bank balance dipped! I don't know much about the Ludurana brand itself apart from it's Brazilian, right?

Arco-Iris is a multi-coloured Flakie similar to HITS Lambada but a lot sparser and with less of the orange flakes. There seems to be an even mix of colours which I think makes it a lot less pukey. I'll do a side by side comparison if anyone wants one but what do you guys think of this?

(Forgot the bottle shots, will add later!)

Please excuse the deathly looking hand. It's -5 here at the mo! Hope it's warmer where you are!

Nail Pop popping!

Happy Monday!

I've seen these Nail Pop polishes by LOOK Beauty on other UK nail blogs and have been wanting to try them since their release however I pretty much gave up hope of finding them after visiting several larger Superdrugs in London to no avail. I know they have them in Westfield Stratford but I refuse to go there again! So you can imagine my surprise when I saw them in the pokey store in Marble Arch! I picked up Kimono which is said to be very similar to Chanel's Peridot and Pearl Effect a lovely blue/purple flakie which I want to show you today.
OPI Siberian Nights and LOOK Beauty - Nail Pop Pearl Effect

The flakes shift from blue to purple but you do need to be in the right lighting conditions to witness this.
I love it. I love it because it's very subtle.
The formula is so so. It dries quite slowly and you do need about 2-3 coats to get a decent coverage and to minimise bald spots. I still love it though.

That's all for now! xx

Some midweek swatches

Models Own Pro - Green Envy
Green is definitely one of my favourite colours and when it's in a black jelly like this it's even more desirable. 2 coats, dries fast, great brush. LUSH. I then decided to put a layer of HITS Lambada over it
It's described as a "clear base with copper, red, green golden yellow, and turquoise flakie". Not sure about it to be honest. There's too much colour going on at once and it looks a bit garish. This may be due to the base I used so I'm willing to let this combo slide and try another coloured base at a later date.
OPI - Steady as she Rose
(Before I broke my nail!)
This image has been on my desktop for a while and thought I'd just slip it in. It needs no introduction. Perfect application and opaque in 2/3 coats. I can't quite remember!

That's it for now. Hope you're all having a nice week so far!
