Hits Cutie Pie

There is absolutely no denying that Brazilian brand Speciallità create some of the most stunning polishes ever to grace my nails. I've previously shown you the Hits Phenomena Collection which were multichromatic glitters similar to Ozotic Elytra. Today I want to share the first of eight multichromatic shimmers polishes from the Hits Mari Moon collection.

This is Cutie Pie.
2 coats over a black base with no top coat

All the Mari Moon polishes need to be seen in person as I have made no attempt to capture all the different colours the polishes shift through, however, what you see in the bottles is pretty much translated onto the nail. The main colours which you will see in Cutie Pie is teal and magenta. I had no issue with the formula, it went on smoothly and dried fast between coats.

Do you guys love these polishes as much as I do? Which ones do you have?
Thanks for reading!
*These polishes were generously gifted to me by the wonderful Barbara. Check out her blog for swatches of other wonderful Brazilian polishes.

Hit Phenomena - Borealis

Ready for the final polish from the Hits Phenomena collection? Well first I want to tell you guys some news (feel free to ignore next paragraph if you're here for the polish).

I don't really divulge a lot of personal information on my blog but as you guys may know I finished my degree about a month ago and I have been patiently waiting for my results. Today was results day and................ I got a FIRST !!! Holy-moly!!! it still hasn't really sunk in. To say I am pleased in an understatement but I feel I bloody deserve it because I worked hard even though I did worry at times that I spent more time painting my nails than revising lol! So now I have told you that I can also tell you I had a conditional offer for a job I really wanted a month ago as well. The condition was passing my degree and as I have managed that I also have a job whooop! I'll not be starting for a while so plenty more posts to come!!! So yeah I am happy and I have been in the pub since 2pm and have just got back and I'm waffling.... blah blah!

Ok Borealis is up there with Moonbow as my fav polish out of this collection. It's gold, green, blue shift gives me a warm fuzzy feeling every time I look at my nails. I love these colours. They remind me of Chanel Peridot which I adore so anything that reminds me of that is a winner.

What is you fave polish out of this collection?

Hits Phenomena - Afterglow

Bonjour! Hope everyone has had a good start to their week. This morning I was very excited to receive the new Bundle Monster plates which I bought using my Amazon vouchers. Apart from the two plates I have from Born Pretty I don't have any other plates and looking at some of the images I'm overwhelmed at how intricate they are! I cannot wait to try them out but I must warn you I still suck at stamping so it might be a while before you see any manis! Have any of you guys bought the new plates?

Getting back to the polish, Afterglow is a lot more subtle than the other 3 polishes in the Phenomena collection. Shifting from purple/navy to pink to orange the multichrome effect of the glitter it less obvious but that may be because the colours are quite dark and I have put it on a black base. And because of this it was the hardest polish to photograph! One swipe of this is enough to give good coverage but for the photographs I used two plus a coat of Seche Vite. Enjoy!
Afterglow and the rest of the Phenomena polishes are available to buy online from Llarowe.
Just Borealis to come so stay tuned!!

Hits Phenomena - Air Glow

Judging from the response I got to yesterday's post it seems that people are still absolutely loving the Hits Phenomena polishes. Not really surprising considering how unique these glitters are and how awesome they look on the nail.

So let's cut to the chase, here is Air Glow, number 2 of 4.
There are not as many shifts in colour as Moonbow but still stunning! I feel this should have been called fire glow as it reminds me of the warm glow of fire, shifting from mainly burnt orange to gold, but with hints of magenta for the eagle-eyed. Once again I have layered two coats over a plain black polish and added a coat of Seche vite. You'll be please to know that these glitters are not very hungry but they are a bitch to remove! These polishes are available to buy online from Llarowe. Watch out for Borealis and Afterglow, they're coming soon.

Hits Phenomena - Moonbow

This swatch is long over due but truth be told I've been a little afraid of this multichrome glittery beauty. In fact I've been putting off swatching the whole Phenomena collection because I just didn't want to suck at capturing their true beauty. Duochromes are hard enough but a multichrome, I can end up with over one hundred photos and still not be happy with a single one. But today I bit the bullet and swatched the gorgeous Moonbow for you.

This little baby does not need any introduction so here are the pics. Enjoy.
Multichrome glitter in a clear base
This multichrome glitter shifts from green, aqua, purple, magenta and at extreme angles you can see orange which you can see in the bottle.
The Phenomena collection is said to be very similar to the Ozotic Elytra polishes but at a much more affordable price.
In the pictures I layered two coats over a black base. The glitter is pretty dense so I think if you were to use this alone you would require about 3-4 coats for full coverage. I have absolutely no complaints about this polish but if I had to complain about something it would be the fact it's not 3-free.

Ah it's so awesome and distracting!
Do you own any of the polishes from this collection? How do you like to wear them?

**thanks to Barb for sending these polishes to me

OMG gradient nails!

After seeing the awesome holographic gradient mani by the-swatchaholic I could not help but jump on the gradated nail bandwagon! Using some polishes from ChG's OMG collection and HITS Hefesto as a top coat this is what I managed to achieve. For a first attempt I don't think it looks too shabby do you?

Under daylight bulb

In natural light
I was a little over zealous filing my ring finger so please ignore the uneven lengths of my nails.
Holographics are a lot more forgiving than creams when it comes to gradient nails. This may be a good place to start if you're new to this technique.

Have a great weekend. x

Dutch 'Ya Love OPI?

OPI UK have hiked their prices up to 11 POUNDS for one bottle! ONE BOTTLE! For my American readers that's 17 USD. *sigh* Anyway I said to myself I didn't need and wouldn't buy any of the new polishes from the Holland collection because I thought my stash contained many of the colours in one form or another. WRONG! After looking at swatches again there were three that called out to me: Dutch 'Ya Love OPI?, Vampsterdam and  Gouda Gouda Two Shoes.

Luckily the first in the list was given to me as a late V-day pressie (along with DL Glitter in the Air) so technically I haven't broken my OPI no buy just yet!

Dutch' Ya Love OPI? Well yes I do (not the prices though)!
Red-toned grape with subtle gold shimmer doesn't sound like my cup of tea on paper but on my nails I am absolutely loving it. I think it's actually one of those polishes that look better on the nails than in the bottle.

Perfect quick drying formula that is opaque in two coats. Not the most glossy finish so could do with a top coat (pics without) if you want that extra shine or you could try a holographic top coat like I did!
Lights on!
 One coat of Hits Hefesto
Lights off!
Have you guys picked up any of the polishes from the Holland collection? If so which ones? yay or nay to the holo top coat?

Splashing Around!

TGIF!!!
And yup I'm still wearing Hits Dreamer. It's been 3 days and I simply cannot get enough of it. There's also been minimal tip wear which is why I've been wearing it longer than usual and not felt the urge to remove it.

So today I want to show you what I noticed whilst washing my hands.
Droplets of water refracting the light and bringing out the different colours of the polish
So pretty!
Ok that is all for today! Thanks for reading.

Hits - Dreamer

This polish has well and truly quashed any yearning I had for the long discontinued SH Prism - Garnet Lapis. The multichromatic display on my nails has distracted me all day and even now as I type I'm not looking at the screen but at my nails! How on earth do they make polishes of such beauty and why the heck can't a UK brand make something like this? Yeah okay so Models Own released the Beetlejuice collection but it is nothing compared to the Hits Mari Moon line!

On to the swatches...
Blue/purple dominant colour
I resorted to using my really old half broken compact camera for the next lot of pics because for some reason it's much better at capturing multichrome polishes. Unfortunately it's also great at making my cuticles look ugly!
Bit too much cuticle oil.
Shifts from blue-purple-maroon-orange and a whole lot more in between!
The thick formula and fat brush with its wild bristles (might just be this bottle) meant I had a little trouble getting it to spread evenly which consequently meant I had to apply two generous coat. Because this polish contains the nasty chemicals it dries pretty fast and to a very high shine.

I want to thank Barbara over at http://www.flickr.com/photos/barbkitty/ for sending this to me! Look what you've started! I now want them all!

Some midweek swatches

Models Own Pro - Green Envy
Green is definitely one of my favourite colours and when it's in a black jelly like this it's even more desirable. 2 coats, dries fast, great brush. LUSH. I then decided to put a layer of HITS Lambada over it
It's described as a "clear base with copper, red, green golden yellow, and turquoise flakie". Not sure about it to be honest. There's too much colour going on at once and it looks a bit garish. This may be due to the base I used so I'm willing to let this combo slide and try another coloured base at a later date.
OPI - Steady as she Rose
(Before I broke my nail!)
This image has been on my desktop for a while and thought I'd just slip it in. It needs no introduction. Perfect application and opaque in 2/3 coats. I can't quite remember!

That's it for now. Hope you're all having a nice week so far!
